St Anthony Figurine

St Anthony

St. Anthony was born in Portugal in the 12th century. He felt that God was calling him to be a priest and entered the Franciscan Order. St. Anthony traveled to Italy where he was known for his love for preaching and the poor. Images of St. Anthony usually show him holding the baby Jesus. He is also known as the patron Saint of lost objects. One day, someone stole a book that was special to St. Anthony. He prayed, asking God to move the heart of the thief and return the book. Eventually, St. Anthony’s prayers were answered and the book was returned! Because of this, many people ask for his help finding something they have lost.
